Montgomery Biscuits Baseball Tickets
The Montgomery Biscuits are the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays were added to Major League Baseball through expansion in 1998 and the Biscuits became their Double-A affiliate the following season. However, the Biscuits' existence dates back a few seasons to 1993 when they were known as the Orlando Cubs. Obviously an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, the Orlando Cubs only existed for four seasons before things began to change for the fledgling franchise. The 1997 season saw the team preemptively adopt the name "Orlando Rays" in anticipation of becoming the Double-A affiliate for Tampa's expansion team. In 1999, the Orlando Rays won the franchise's first Southern League title in their first season of Tampa Bay affiliation. It was announced that the squad would be relocated to Montgomery, Alabama, for the 2004 season and take on a new name: the Biscuits. The team won back-to-back Southern League titles in 2006 and 2007 and has now made the playoffs in the last five seasons. Riverwalk Stadium opened in 2004 to welcome the newly relocated and renamed Montgomery Biscuits to town. The 7,000-person capacity includes permanent seating and the general admission area where fans can enjoy a game from the grassy hill that extends from the corner of right field nearly to center field. The stadium also boasts the largest video board in the entire Southern League. As a tribute to local culture, the team converted an old railroad train shed that you pass through on your way to your seat. The namesake of the stadium, the Alabama Riverwalk, runs from the stadium for three miles up the Alabama River. The stadium does an excellent job of highlighting the history of the area while offering a modern environment to enjoy the game. Are there any big games for the Montgomery Biscuits this season?
