The Ashes - a historic competition
The Ashes is a Test cricket competition that takes place between England and Australia at least once every two years. One of the oldest contests in international cricket, its prize, the famous terracotta urn, allegedly contains the burned remains of a cricket ball. The series is traditionally made up of five Tests, which are hosted in turn by England and Australia. The matches are usually held in the UK at grounds such as Old Trafford in Manchester, The Kia Oval or Lords Cricket Ground in London, Edgbaston in Birmingham and Headingly in Leeds, among others, while Australia's grounds include the Gabba in Brisbane, Adelaide Oval, Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Sydney Cricket Ground. In order for a team to win the urn, they must win a series. If a series draws, then the Ashes stays with the previous holders. If you are a cricket fan, this is the one to watch.
