Founded in 1993, Lord March instigated the Festival in order to bring back motor racing to the Goodwood estate - which was already immersed in motor car history. Not able to hold a race on the grounds due to license restrictions, he chose to host the festival there instead. Today, the Sunday Times Supercar Run provides one of the highlights of the race, allowing speciality manufacturers to show off their latest models and demonstrate concept cars. The Cartier Style et Luxe gives car owners another to show off their vehicle in front of an international panel of celebrity judges. As well as the more serious events the festival provides further entertainment in the form of real life replicas of the cars from Wacky Races and an air show incorporating the Red Arrows.
