Tyson Fury is back
Controversial British boxer Tyson Fury is coming back to the boxing ring. The no-nonsense Irish traveller from Manchester announced his return to professional boxing on April 12, 2018. The 29-year-old boxer has not fought since he famously defeated Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, claiming the IBF, WBA and WBO world titles in the process. Fury has often courted controversy for his comments and behaviour, yet, after battling depression and mental health issues, his demeanour is notably more relaxed. Thankfully, Fury has not lost any of his famous self-belief and he is looking to regain the heavyweight titles that he gave up after his last fight. Tyson Fury’s road to heavyweight champion of the world
Even though Fury had to give up his championship belts, the British boxer is still undefeated as a professional with 25 wins, 18 coming by knockout. Descended from a long line of boxers, and named after Mike Tyson, it was perhaps inevitable that Fury would become one of the world’s most formidable heavyweights. He won 30 of his 34 fights as an amateur, competing for both Ireland and England. He then made his professional debut at the age of 20, and is yet to be defeated. In 2015 Fury was named “Fighter of the Year” by influential boxing magazine The Ring. This was due to his stunning win over Ukrainian boxer Klitschko. However, due to various issues, he was stripped of his titles and took time off from boxing. Now, with his comeback about to start, his unbeaten record may be in danger. The likes of current heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are likely to prove formidable opponents to the “Gypsy King”. Can Fury complete the perfect comeback? Tyson Fury’s boxing style
A self-confessed showman, The Furious One is out to entertain, and a lethal combination of both orthodox and southpaw moves makes him a tricky opponent for any fighter. Add to that the fighter’s impressive reach and a Tyson Fury fight is always a daunting prospect. The last few years may have been rocky for the boxer, but as he stated in a frank interview ‘Special people have to be, sometimes, eccentric emotional fools’.
