It opened in 1960, and later it gained the nickname of "The Rock." Additional seating was added in 2009 as well as a student support center and facility for training. The North End Zone Plaza was named the George Taliaferro Plaza after the Hoosier who was the first African-American drafted by an NFL team. Where is parking for Memorial Stadium Indiana events?There is free parking in any IU garage beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday and all day on both Saturday and Sunday. Students with permits must remove their vehicles by 6 p.m. The Indiana Memorial Union has two pay lots; Lot 1 is located immediately to the east of the IMU, and Lot 2 is located to the north across Seventh Street. It is suggested that a parking pass from the IU Athletics Ticket Office be purchased. Those who wish to park in the disabled parking spaces can also buy a prepaid permit. Gates 2, 4, 6, 8 and 9 are reserved for those who have prepaid parking.

Patrons using accessible seating in the East Stands should enter the stadium through Gates E5 or E9. Patrons using accessible seating in the North End Zone should enter the stadium through Gate E2, W4 or North Gate. There are wheelchair-accessible restrooms located near the MSI seating areas.
Is there a clear bag policy for MSI events?Yes. Clear plastic bags, no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or a 1-gallon zip plastic freezer bag may be brought into the stadium. In addition to the clear bag, a clutch with or without a handle, no bigger than 4 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches, may be brought in.
