"Marcia Griffiths Tickets
The reigning queen of reggae music, Marcia Griffiths has the voice of a Jamaican Goddess. Her angelic melodies and heavy drum beats bring us all the way back to the island with true Rasta flavor. For more than 20 years, her voice has graced our favourite reggae tracks, and she continues to deliver a soulful sound with her solo performances. Marcia has shared the stage with several major artists, like Bob Marley, Phillip James and Byron Lee and the Dragonaires. If you already like reggae, you've already heard Marcia Griffiths.
Schedule
Those with Marcia Griffiths tickets can spot the performer with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra at the Wembley Arena, and in venues across New York, Toronto, Atlanta, Miami and Jamaica. She is a regular performer at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London and Academy Leeds in Leeds, UK.
Trivia
Marcia has proved her talent, transcending genres to share the stage with Boyz II Men at the massive Spring Break concert for MTV in Negril Jamaica. Her multi-decade career has been so monumental that a Brazilian documentary called Reggae Meets Samba, was created surrounding Griffiths career.
Bands/Singers
Maria Griffiths was born in a poor neighbourhood in Kingston and is one of the longest standing working musicians in reggae music. She has a proven track record as a soloist and as a backup singer. She has toured around the world, stepping on the stages of every major venue in cities big and small with members of the I-Threes and with Bob Marley and the Wailers. She started singing as a vocalist with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires band. Soon after she recorded her first hit Feel Like Jumping.
Breakthrough
Marcia Griffiths gained international recognition with her mega hit Electric Boogie. The song rose to the top spot on the Jamaican charts. The song continued to play in heavy rotation and seven years later a Washington DC Disk Jockey played the record. It received so many requests that it was put into regular rotation. The song was so popular that a new dance, the electric slide was created to pay homage to the iconic song, also called the Electric Boogie.
Hit Albums
The first hit single Marcia released was called Feel like Jumping, written by Bob Andy. The single was a critical and commercial hit. Her first proper album Marcia Griffiths At Studio One, featured the first recording of Bob Marley and Marcia Griffiths on the hit track Always Together, which catapulted them both to international recognition. Later, Electric Boogie became Marcia's first worldwide hit and reached 51on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song remains as the highest-selling single from a reggae female artist.
Show Experience
What makes Marcia Griffiths performances a life-changing experience is her amazing ability to spread love to everyone around her through the spirit of her reggae music. Her shows incorporate old hits she sang with Bob Marley in the I Threes, in addition to her more recent solo hits. It doesn't matter where in the world you see a Marcia Griffiths show, you will feel like you are dancing on the beach lounging under the Jamaican sun.
