Jon Hopkins Biography - From Precocious Talent To Dance Music Icon

A keen student of the piano since an early age at the Royal College of Music, the musician eventually found his attention drift towards electronic music, releasing his first solo album at the age of 19 on Just Music. Opalescent, like all of his releases, was critically well-received, and was followed by Contact Note a further five years down the line. Having been recruited by none other than Brian Eno to play keys on his comeback album Another Day On Earth in 2005, he became close with Coldplay, acting as a co-producer for their fourth effort and opening for them as a DJ in front of crowds of upwards 20,000 people on their tours across the UK, US and Japan.

2009 saw the Surrey-born star return to his solo work with Insides, his third studio album that would go on to chart at no. 15 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Scores for films Monsters and Lovely Bones, as well as another collaboration with Eno this time on Small Craft on a Milk Sea, and Creosote on the Mercury-nominated album Diamond Mine kept fans more than happy in the gap between his next solo work Immunity. This modern classic was recently reworked on his four track EP Asleep Versions, a dreamlike record that acts as yet another showcase of his unbelievable talents.
