Iowa State Cyclones Women's Volleyball Tickets
In 2019, the Iowa State Cyclones women's volleyball team had a hot season that would get them to the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship. It would mark the team's 14th appearance at the tournament. What's even more impressive is that 13 of those appearances occurred in the past 14 years. Before this tournament-appearance streak, the Cyclones had only appeared in one NCAA Tournament back in 1995. However, since 2006 rolled around, the Cyclones have never been left out of NCAA or NIVC (National Volleyball Invitational Championship) tournament play. Last year's team included only one senior, Josie Herbst, so the 2020 squad retains practically all of its star players from the 2019 roster, including Candelaria Herrera and Eleanor Holthaus, who garnered All-Big 12 Team honors. Also returning will be Piper Mauck and Avery Rhodes, both of whom earned All-Big 12 Second team. Additionally, Annie Hatch, a freshman, was selected to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team. Christy Johnson-Lynch took over the Cyclones back in 2004 and, in that time, has completely changed the face of the program. But, with Johnson-Lynch at the helm, the Cyclones would appear in tournament play every year except her first season. Her overall record as coach of the Cyclones is exceptional, with each of her seasons becoming a winning year. Her work with the team has earned her many high-level accolades and positions, including a seat on the AVCA Board of Directors between 2015 and 2018, a stint as the AVCA president and, in 2009, Coach of the Year awards from Asics/Volleyball Magazine, the Big 12 and the AVCA Central Region. Are there any other Iowa State Cyclones coaches with notable histories in volleyball?
