Dr Who - The Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular
A live musical invasion! Vision Nine and BBC Worldwide are delighted to announce the UK premiere of a new version of the hugely popular Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular.
The live show, which was a sell-out on its world premiere in Australia, celebrates the world's longest running science fiction TV series, and showcases the evocative and thrilling music written by Murray Gold for the series since 2005 and features over 100 performers including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and members of the BBC National Chorus of Wales, conducted by Ben Foster.
The Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular will enjoy a run of thirteen UK performances in London, Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle and Glasgow. The guest presenter for the UK performances of the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular in May 2015 will be Peter Davison. Davison, who portrayed the Fifth Doctor on the BBC One series between 1981 and 1984, also acted as presenter for the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular shows in Australia and New Zealand at the beginning of 2014 and will reprise this role in 2015.The show will feature a host of the Doctor's famous adversaries; previous productions have included the iconic Daleks, the awe-inspiring Cybermen, the spine-chilling Silence and many more fan favourites. The live monsters provide a dramatic counterpoint to the evocative and thrilling music written by Murray Gold, responsible for the last eight years of epic Doctor Who music including the record-breaking (and BAFTA award-winning) 50th anniversary episode "The Day of the Doctor”
The show will also feature Murray's new music for and footage from the latest season of Doctor Who, which introduced Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor and which has been broadcast around the world this year. The live music will be accompanied by a big screen presentation of key moments and specially edited sequences from the past 50 years of Doctor Who.
More About Dr Who - The Day of the Doctor
It's been 50 years since the travelling Timelord first made his way onto our screens as William Hartnell back in 1963. Since then the Doctor has gone through 13 regenerations, been accompanied by more than 35 companions and seen off some of TV's most terrifying villains including the exterminating Daleks and coldly logical Cybermen.
In celebration of the release of The Day of the Doctor, a spectacular 50th anniversary celebration episode, this three-day event at ExCeL London will bring over 15,000 Whovians together to take part in this one of a kind event. During the day fans will be able to take part in Stunt School, learn how to Walk Like a Monster from Doctor Who's Movement Choreographer and attend autograph sessions from your favourite Doctor. As if that isn't exciting enough, two panels will be held: Regenerations will give fans the chance to ask past Doctors - Tom Baker, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy - those burning questions you've always wanted to ask. Whilst The Eleventh Hour will see you sit down in a theatre whilst current time lord Matt Smith gives you the inside scoop and answers questions from fans.
Make sure you're celebrating our favourite time lord's birthday with other Who fans and purchase Dr Who tickets now to see your favourite Doctors in the flesh.
