The Cambridge Corn Exchange, one of the city's most popular concert venues, has a long and varied history behind it. Having hosted everything from concerts to sports competitions, exhibitions to (no surprise) corn-trading events, the venue is an iconic and much-loved building in Cambridge. Whether for comedy, ballet, live music or something else entirely, tickets for Cambridge Corn Exchange are available to buy or sell on StubHub.
The historical venue of Cambridge Corn Exchange
The Cambridge Corn Exchange was opened in 1875, replacing the old corn exchange with a larger and more modern building. The venue instantly became famous after a mistake was made in the singing of the national anthem at the inaugural concert, which resulted in an angry mob attacking the mayor's house and a subsequent trial that was covered by media across the world. Another famous riot was caused nearly 100 years later, in 1974, when The Drifters failed to appear on stage at a concert and fans became incensed. Fortunately, the majority of Cambridge Corn Exchange events are considerably quieter than either of these two - it is now extremely well-known for its diverse programming that sees everything from choral societies to Elvis impersonators, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to rock bands take the stage. The venue is also used for exhibitions and, in the 20th century, held roller skating, badminton, boxing and wrestling events. With such a wide range of performances on offer, you're bound to find some Cambridge Corn Exchange tickets that suit you.
Colourful events at Cambridge Corn Exchange
While the city hosts other popular venues such as the Cambridge Arts Theatre and Cambridge Junction, the Cambridge Corn Exchange impresses with its colourful history and the elegant façade of the building, which features 250,000 locally made, coloured bricks. Situated in the centre of the city, it is easily accessible by car or public transport and offers refreshment from a couple of bars on-site as well as being in close proximity to numerous restaurants, bars and cafés. Seating at Cambridge Corn Exchange is different, depending on the type of show; various arrangements can be made so that the audience can have the most comfortable experience and best views possible. With musical royalty such as The Who, Oasis, Queen and Take That having played at the venue, there's a definite sense of magic in the air that only adds to any performance you happen to take in here. The building has come a long way from the days of the corn trading, but maybe you'll catch a hint of that in the air too - tickets for Cambridge Corn Exchange are available now to buy or sell on StubHub.
