Charli XCX Biography - Honing the XCX Factor

It might seem like she has burst to dizzying heights from nowhere, but Charlotte Emma Aitchison, as she was born in 1992, actually released her debut single back in 2008. That year she released '!Franchesckaar!' and 'Emelline', both of which featured on her unreleased first-recorded album 14.

Her pop charisma and distinctive vocals were picked up by the This Is Music label in 2010, before her You're the One EP came out in 2012. The likes of NME and The Guardian lauded her then, but it wasn't until April 2013 when her full debut album True Romance came out that the young singer hit the big time. She also collaborated with Icona Pop and Iggy Azalea during this time, while her own hit 'Boom Clap' gave her her first ever Top 10 smash, especially after it featured in summer blockbuster The Fault in Our Stars.
