Andre Rieu Biography
Growing up, the musician was inspired by his father, who was a conductor for the Masstricht Symphony Orchestra. Showing early signs of musical talent, he began to learn violin at the tender age of five. After attending the Music Academy in Brussels and receiving his degree at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he began to pursue his musical career.
After performing Gold And Silver Waltz by Franz Leh�r, the violinist found the audience incredibly receptive to the waltz form. He then formed his own orchestra, the Johann Strauss Orchestra and established a production company. His theatrical performances have been commended for bringing about the waltz revival and bringing classical music into the mainstream. Rieu is well known for collaborating with an exemplary set of contemporaries and has even included a waltz written by Hollywood star Sir Anthony Hopkins into his show.
