Boston Manor Park dates back to around the 12th century and has since had numerous influential land owners. The park was originally part of the estate belonging to royal financier Thomas Gresham, who also owned Osterley Park. The manor house that has survived in the centre dates back to 1623s. In the late 19th century, the region was becoming more urbanised, yet the estate remained largely untouched, still containing local views, historic trees and flora, as well as a kitchen garden. In 1923, then owner Colonel Clitherow sold the manor and acres of land to the local Brentford Urban District Council. Some of this land was later developed as housing while the remaining park became a public space and opened on 11 September 1924. The park can be accessed from Boston Manor Road off the motorway, making it a secret hideaway from the local area.
