Being a Halloween-themed EDM event, fans dress the part, with decorated stages to match. As this ghoulish event continues to grow and evolve, it becomes larger and more memorable each year.
Originally located in New York, Boo! debuted in 2014, before moving to San Francisco the following year. Although the first set was to be held at the Barclays Center, the event moved to a general admission venue, New York's Pier 94, and cleverly renamed, Pier of Fear. The Australian duo, Knife Party headlined BOO!, sharing the stage that evening with electronic music producer DJ Snake.
Hosted by Insomniac, this company creates some of the most immersive and innovative experiences in the world. Producing over 250+ festivals and shows in the past, including Electric Daisy Carnival, Insomniac is known for their lighting techniques, large-scale art installations, and special effects. They were the perfect fit for a Halloween-themed event, and had already founded the highly successful Escape Music Festival.
After a great year in the Big Apple, this highly anticipated event traveled to the opposite side of the country. In 2015, the event moved to San Francisco, offering fans two days of music and Halloween fun at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. The lineup on October 30th included Oliver Heldens, Flosstradamus and more, followed by a lineup that included Nicky Romero and Seven Lions on the 31st.
Being so successful, BOO! not only returned to the Bay Area for 2016, but two new cities were also added -- Dallas and Phoenix. Offering unique lineups within each city, some of the performers added to the set list in 2016 included NGHTMRE, Excision and Baauer.
BOO!'s note-worthy setlists
Carefully selected, each set offers fans the perfect combination of DJs and musicians. San Francisco is the only city where the event is held for two days, allowing attendees to enjoy one or two evenings of ghoulish excitement.
After announcing their 2016 lineup, fans were thrilled to see Yellow Claw, Showtek and KSHMR on the list. In Dallas and Phoenix, the feeling was mutual among dance and bass fans, as the 201 playlist included Ghastly, Snails and Bro Safari.
