BBC Biggest Weekend: Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Noel Gallagher headline BBC's 'Glastonbury replacement'
Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Noel Gallagher and Manic Street Preachers are among the headliners at the BBC's brand new Biggest Weekend festival. Set to take place at four sites in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland over the May Bank Holiday (25-28 May), it is the most ambitious music event that the BBC has ever staged.
With Glastonbury taking its scheduled break to allow the farmland time to recover in 2018, the corporation made a promise last year to step in with a new multi-location event would offer 'coverage similar to that around Glastonbury'. With more than 175,000 tickets and a list of headliners to envy any established festival, the BBC has certainly been true to its word.
Bob Shennan, the director of BBC Radio and Music, said: "BBC Music has a strong history of bringing the nation together for some special moments, and this is the biggest single music event ever attempted by the BBC. We will be celebrating the diversity of music from four different corners of the country, bringing the best UK music to the world and the best global music to the UK."
