Name changes and star ice hockey players
Acadie-Bathurst Titan started life as Rosemont National, which was formed during the 1969-1970 Canadian ice hockey season. They've had many name changes since then, and have been known at various times as the Laval Voisins and the Laval National, and later the Laval Titan before becoming more of a mouthful – the result of merging with another team that saw them named the Laval Titan Collège Français. In 1998 they settled on their current name. In this time they've produced some players who have gone on to become Canadian and US hockey stars – bear in mind that this is a junior team, which means that it’s restricted to young players aged 16 to 21. Their most celebrated alumni is Mario Lemieux, who landed a spot on the Pittsburgh Penguins team roster and earned himself the nickname "The Magnificent One". So it's a long and proud ice hockey history you're participating in when you get Acadie-Bathurst Titan tickets.
Winning the Canadian National Ice Hockey Championship
Acadie-Bathurst Titan plays in the smallest regional conference of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Despite the relatively smaller player and supporter base that the club can draw on, the team has steadily made its way to the very top of its league, and in 2018 reached the coveted Canadian national championship, the Memorial Cup, which it won for the first time in 20 years, thanks to some spirited and determined play against Blainville-Boisbriand. The cup is contested between the winners and runners-up in the three Canadian junior leagues each year: the Western Hockey League, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Ontario Hockey League. So here's your chance to catch an ice hockey team at the top of its game – get yourself some Acadie-Bathurst Titan tickets on StubHub and you'll discover just how exciting the game is when it's played at this level. It's a very satisfying mix of youthful ambition bursting at the seams to get out into the pro game and down-to-earth amateur values.
