The Cribs: indie boys play four residencies this December in Glasgow, Manchester, London and Leeds

Wakefield born and bred indie kids The Cribs are celebrating over a decade and a half in the music business in 2017, having first become active on the gig circuit in 2002. Their unique sound and energetic live performances have won them fans all over the world and seen them attract guest guitarists such as The Smiths legend Johnny Marr, who became the band's fourth member from 2008 to 2011.

Setting themselves aside from their contemporaries such as The Libertines in the early noughties, the band quickly gained a cult following and by 2012 they were honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the NME Awards. Back with popular new album 24-7 Rock Star Shit, the band have announced brand new UK tour dates to see out 2017.

The Cribs: 15 years in the business for Yorkshire brothers

After setting up their own studio in an old mill, the three brothers set out to record their first demo in early 2001, while also playing local venues in Leeds. With the industry looking out for the UK version of the Strokes, the band were picked up by Wichita Recordings in 2003. After the release of their self-titled debut album in 2004, the group found support from major publishers like the NME and were soon the talk of music journalists for their intelligent lyrics and catchy guitar riffs. After extensive touring, second album The New Fellas was released in 2005, including "Hey Scenesters!" which would become NME's single of the year.

Produced by Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand, the third album Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever became the band's breakthrough into mainstream radio. By 2008, a chance meeting with The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr led to a collaboration that would last three years and produce the album Ignore the Ignorant – the band's first top ten success.

After the release of their fifth album In the Belly of the Brazen Bull in 2012, the band were awarded Q magazine's 'Spirit of Independence Award'. A best of LP was released a year later to mark their tenth anniversary in the industry and after a new deal was signed with Sony, the band released their 8th album 24-7 Rock Star Shit to great critical acclaim in 2017.
