Kraftwerk Biography - A Musical Tour De Force
With their love of fusing technology and music dating back to the late 1960s, founding members Ralf Hutter and Florian Schneider met whilst studying improvised music in D�sseldorf, Germany, settling on their current name in 1970. Releasing their self-titled debut album in the same year, they simmered under the surface until 1974 album Autobahn brought an international breakthrough. Their fourth studio release, the album achieved their highest chart position to date, reaching number four in the UK charts and number five in the US. Now, wherever you look in modern pop, their influence can be felt. Not only are they one of the most sampled bands of all time, they are also regularly placed on par with The Beatles in terms of musical influence - even the legendary David Bowie played tribute to them with his song 'V-2 Schneider'.
As further testament to this, popularity for the band is still through the roof, with Kraftwerk tickets selling faster than ever in recent years. Performing a string of immensely popular gigs at New York's infamous art institution MOMA in 2012, the band revisited eight of their ten albums, each on a different night. Upon bringing the concept to London's Tate Modern in 2013, fans went similarly wild, and eagerly await their return to the UK.
