Jools Holland - Bringing Jazz and Blues into the Mainstream Arena
This incredible pianist started his career as a successful session musician before joining pop band Squeeze in 1974. After a number of years with the group selling millions of records, the star turned solo and released his debut EP Boogie Woogie in 1978. The years that followed saw TV appearances, beginning with co-presenting duties on The Tube alongside Paula Yates, and the formation of the Jools Holland Big Band alongside former bandmate Gilson Lavis. Over the next couple of years this became the highly regarded Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, who not only toured the country regularly but also appeared on the star's next TV venture, Later... with Jools Holland.
Now in its 24th year, the show hosts some of the best artists in the industry, with Sam Smith and Mumford and Sons recent acts to give outstanding live performances. His annual New Year's Eve show Hootenanny is equally popular, bringing the talent of singers like Ruby Turner and Sam Brown into the spotlight - as well as huge names like Kylie Minogue, Adele and Tom Jones. In 2003, he was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for his services to the British music industry and returned to perform for the monarch in 2012 at her Diamond Jubilee. He tours the UK in 2016, hitting up some of the country's finest venues to perform his unique style of jazz and blues. Get your Jools Holland tickets on StubHub UK now.
