One of the most popular bands to emerge from the Britpop era, Northern Irish alt rock band Ash are celebrated for dominating the charts in the 1990s and 2000s with punchy singles including "Girl from Mars" and "Burn Baby Burn". 

Famous for bringing an American edge to the Cool Britannia movement, Ash have retained a cult following and have attracted a horde of new fans in recent years. Ash: touring and making new music

High energy Northern Irish alternative act Ash formed from the ashes of a metal band named Vietnam. Childhood friends Tim Wheeler and Mark Hamilton changed the group's name to Ash in 1992 after adopting a more punk focused sound, adding drummer Rock McCurray to the line-up. Taking cues from legendary British acts including The Buzzcocks, the band crafted a uniquely youthful sound that appealled to fans of Oasis and Blur. Before some of the band members were out of high school, they had already landed a series of high charting hits.

Their debut album 1977 has been named one of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time by NME, consisting of indie dancefloor fillers such as "Girl from Mars" and "Goldfinger". Named after the year Star Wars was released, the album was an ode to the bands love of everything science fiction and flaunted extravagant production work. In 1997, female guitarist Charlotte Hatherley was added to the line-up, further expanding the group's fan base.

Their 2001 album Free All Angels became one of the stand out records of the new millennium, spawning decade defining hits including "Burn Baby Burn" and "Shining Light". In 2012, the band celebrated their 20th anniversary with a sell-out show in London, proving their eternal popularity and charming hordes more fans. Continuing to tour and make new music, the group released seventh studio album Islands in 2018.
