Radiohead - World Tour Announced in Celebration of New Album Release
2016 looks like being a monster year for these legendary alt-rockers, with the release of a ninth studio album and the confirmation of a world tour to celebrate. The two announcements have sent their fans into a frenzy, having heard little from the band since 2011 album The King of Limbs, and while we don't currently know the new album name, the registration of a distribution company called Dawn Chorus LLP could give us a decent hint. With three dates already planned for London's Roundhouse, keep an eye out for further news from this Oxford five-piece and be first to get Radiohead tickets on StubHub UK.
Radiohead Biography - Legends of British Rock Making their Return
Formed by frontman Thom Yorke with schoolmates in Oxfordshire in 1985, Radiohead have come to encompass everything that is great about British rock music. Starting out performing under the moniker On A Friday after their typical weekly rehearsal time slot, the friends renamed themselves after Talking Heads song 'Radio Head' after landing a record deal with EMI.
Debut single 'Creep' achieved unprecedented worldwide success in 1992, and the angst-ridden alt rock anthem is now counted among the finest songs of the decade. The release of Pablo Honey the next year propelled the band to fame and acclaim, but it was their 1995 album The Bends that first truly displayed the depth of their talent, earning them a legion of followers. Noted for their complex songwriting, ominous balladry and exceptional instrumental proficiency, they became one of the biggest success stories of the decade.
In the 2000s, the band challenged expectations and resisted musical typecasting with ground-breaking releases such as OK Computer and The King of Limbs, both regarded as modern masterpieces. Spearheading the digital revolution in 2007, their seventh album In Rainbows was the first ever pay-for-what-you-want album, with Time magazine calling it 'the most important release in the history of the music business'. In 2016, fans can look forward to their ninth studio album and the first world tour in four years from the legendary rock outfit. Don't miss out - pick up Radiohead tickets now on StubHub UK.
