Portugal the Man Biography - Pals with Danger Mouse

In 2002 John Gourley and Zach Carothers decided to continue playing in their side project following the breakup of their main group Anatomy of a Ghost. After recruiting more members the band left Alaska for more music-centric Portland, where they used MySpace to generate a following for their debut album Waiter: ìYour Vultures!" in 2006. Following a second album and headlining tour around the US the group produced their first independently released album Censored Colors in 2008 under their own newly formed label Approaching AIRballoons. The success of the album led to performances at major international festivals Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza the following year - the latter of which would see their van and trailer stolen when returning to perform there two years later. The group's well-earned success has more recently seen them work alongside Danger Mouse - of Gnarls Barkley and Gorillaz fame - on 2013 release Evil Friends.
