This successful English group formed in 2000, when wannabe singers Antony Costa and Lee Ryan met at an audition for a boy band on ITV's This Morning organised by music mogul Simon Cowell. Although Ryan was chosen and Costa was vetoed, the boys stayed in touch and later decided to form their own outfit alongside Duncan James and Ryan's flatmate, professional footballer Simon Webbe. At the time, the international charts were saturated by sugary pop and Blue injected their sound with a cool RandB edge to stand out in the crowd. Their debut single 'All Rise' soared to number four and catalysed a period of chart dominance, with infectious tracks like 'Too Close' and 'If You Come Back' becoming some of the biggest mainstream hits of the decade.
