Tori Amos Biography
Born in North Carolina in 1963, this golden-voiced singer found solace in music from an early age. Although she won a scholarship to the Preparatory Division of the Peabody Conservatory for Music, by the age of 11 she'd decided to learn to play by ear instead, cutting her teeth in piano bars. After turning 21 she moved to Los Angeles in order to further pursue her career - and it was here things really took off. Her debut solo album, Little Earthquakes, not only peaked at Number 14 on the UK album charts but was featured in Q magazine as the 66th Greatest Album of All Time and 4th Greatest Album by a Female Artist ever. The singer has continued to go from strength to strength, with sophomore album, Boys for Pele achieving a Number Two position in both the Billboard 200 and the UK Top 40.
She has since become an essential live act around the world.
