The Slow Readers Club origins
The band's origins actually began under the name Omerta, when Aaron Starkie, Nick Moylan, James Ryan and Neil Turvin formed the band in 2003. Recording their first demo a year later, the band soon picked up steam and saw an unprecedented amount of interest, with their debut double A-side quickly selling out, fans found themselves paying 15 times over the original on eBay. Gaining radio time with their single "Everyone is Frozen", due to a recommendation from BBC 6 Music's Steve Lamacq. In such a short turbulent couple of years, the band crashed in 2007 when Nick Moylan left the band, with the rest subsequently splitting despite their relative success.
Unperturbed the remaining three went on to form The Slow Readers Club, and have since continued with their success. Releasing their eponymous debut album in 2011, the band led with the singles "Feet On Fire", "Sirens" and "Block Out The Sun", each of which saw the band reclaim their former success. Of course, it wasn't all good news, with the band going through frequent lineup changes. As it stands frontman Aaron Starkie, is the only one remaining from the original Omerta band, with Kurtis Starkie on vocals, David Whitworth on drums and Jim Ryan on bass. When they released their single "Forever in Your Debt" in 2013, the band had cultivated their signature sound. Releasing their follow-up album, Cavalcade, back in 2015, The Slow Readers Club finally saw the same level of excitement and critical praise as Starkie experienced back with Omerta.
