The Jacksons Biography - Bringing Back the Jackson 5 Funk

After growing up in Indiana, the brothers became interested in music through their father, Joe Jackson, who spurred the group into performance and named the group 'The Jackson Brothers' which later became 'The Jackson Five'. After a series of concerts everywhere from high schools to strip clubs, Jermaine, Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Michael eventually signed to Steeltown Records and recorded two singles '(I'm A) Big Boy' and 'We Don't Have to Be Over 21'. These new songs helped to gain the group recognition, and were followed with a series of support spots for Bobby Taylor & the Vancouvers and the Supremes.

The band finally broke through with the release of the now classic disco number 'I Want You Back' with Motown Records in 1969. The single topped the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been praised by the likes of Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The group's signature brand of 'bubblegum soul' saw them become the first group to score four consecutive No.1 hits. The band suffered a lull in popularity during the '80s when former member Michael took the limelight with his legendary solo career. After Michael's death in 2009 the brothers reunited again, to bring back the timeless songs which have brought joy to fans since their first release.
