Taking over the family business

Taking to the open road and discovering everything it has to offer is something we all daydream about at one point or another: the thrill of the escape, the unlimited possibilities, the refusal to stay put. This is the outlook that possessed Rocky and Ross Lynch to form The Driver Era. The brothers grew up as part of the successful pop band R5, comprised of their brother Riker, sister Rydel and family friend Ellington Ratliff. R5 released a string of hit singles and embarked on numerous US and world tours over a prosperous ten-year period, yet fell into hiatus in 2018. After uploading a video to their YouTube channel titled "The Last Show", all of R5’s social media accounts were changed to The Driver Era and every R5 post was deleted. Soon after, The Driver Era released their debut single, "Preacher Man", presenting a raw rock ‘n’ roll vibe fused with gospel influences and thumping rhythms. The dreamy "Afterglow" and charismatic R&B effort "Flexible" further demonstrated the duo’s endless creativity and desire to strive for innovation.
