Incubus 2018 UK tour dates

Bursting onto the music scene in the late 1990s, this multi-platinum selling California rock band proved to be one of the more innovative acts of the nu-metal explosion. In the early 1990s, a group of rock rebel school friends from the San Fernando Valley region of California decided to form a band, with Brandon Boyd as the lead singer. The group started out playing funk metal in a similar vein to their idols the Red Hot Chilli Peppers but over the course of the decade, Incubus began to weave in other elements and by the time they burst to public recognition in the new millennium, their sound was a tapestry of thrash, rap-metal, post-grunge rock and grinding nu metal.

Setting themselves apart from the crowded alternative scene with their dissident sound that was both danceable and headbang-worthy, it didn't take long for the band to acquire a cult following and they were invited to open gigs for hugely popular nu metal acts like Korn and Primus. The success of their first major label releases S.C.I.E.N.C.E was buoyed largely by Boyd's impressive vocal range,with his ability to flit from quiet whispering melodies to funk-styled rants and thrashing metal screams at the drop of a hat.
