Snow Patrol: 25 years in the business for pop hitmakers

Based around the songwriting talents of frontman Gary Lightbody, Snow Patrol formed during the Britpop era of the mid-90s. However, while other guitar bands of the time such as Oasis and Blur ruled the airwaves, Snow Patrol struggled to make an impact with their first two albums and were dropped by their label in 2001. However, the group's dogged persistence would pay off spectacularly with the amazing success of hit single "Run" just two years later. The track not only cemented the band's place in the national consciousness but also enjoyed an unexpected second wind after being covered by Leona Lewis in 2008.

Mega hit "Chasing Cars" would also appear the same year, with which the band then almost overnight became international superstars. Subsequent Snow Patrol albums such as Eyes Open and Fallen Empires have only enhanced the band's reputation, and they've become firm festival favourites, headlining T In The Park and V Festival with their sing-along anthems. Overall, the band's albums have already sold over 10 million copies, with singles such "You're All I Have", "Take Back the City", "Signal Fire", "You're All I Have", "Run" and "Chasing Cars" all landing in the UK top 10 taking their overall sales to over 13 million worldwide.
