The merry wives of the king have to take turns regaling the audience in song, telling of their crazy lives at the hands of one of the most infamous insane megalomaniacal spouses in all of history – who had them beheaded for their troubles, to boot! But here's the twist. The action takes place in the format of a reality TV talent show like X Factor, with the winner getting to be the lead singer of the girl band that the wives are forming. How's that for a wacky way of bringing history kicking and screaming into Millennial culture. It's a wonder that Simon Cowell wasn't cast as King Henry himself. Like so many modern plays, Six The Musical began life at the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the breeding ground of classic cult shows and West End smash hits.
