He would finally have his own team when he moved to Xavier University, where he would become the winningest women's basketball coach of all time at the school with a record of 213-73. Next, McGuff went to the University of Washington for two seasons and produced a record of 41-26. Then, in 2013, he took over at Ohio State. At the close of the 2018-2019 season, the Buckeyes under McGuff's leadership had an overall record of 134-65 and 71-31 in conference play.
