Bouncing back from Oasis split
After years of tensions culminating in a backstage fight, Noel Gallagher announced to the world that he could no longer continue to work with his brother Liam, that he had quit Oasis and that the band was done. This was back in 2009. Two years later, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds released their debut record, "High Flying Birds", featuring the singles "The Death of You and Me", "AKA… What a Life!" and "If I Had a Gun…". Noel brought in a host of ex-Oasis session musicians for the project, including Chris Sharrock on drums, Gem Archer on guitar and Mike Rowe on keys. Russell Pritchard of The Zutons also came in on bass to complete the supporting line-up. Their follow-up effort, "Chasing Yesterday", dropped in 2015 and featured a collaboration with The Wired Strings, recorded at the world-renowned Abbey Road Studios. An extensive world tour ended with a final show at the o2 Academy Brixton, where rock icons Paul Weller and Johnny Marr joined Gallagher on stage at his first-ever headline show at the venue. You never quite know what surprises could be in store with a Gallagher live show, although you’re bound to rock out to absolute belters all night long. Taking the limelight for himself
A couple of weeks after headlining "We Are Manchester", a benefit gig marking the reopening of the city’s arena following the terrorist attacks there, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds released their third album, "Who Built the Moon?", which they toured throughout North America, the UK and Europe in 2018. The next year they supported The Smashing Pumpkins in the States and later joined U2’s tour of Australia, expanding their reach and showcasing Noel’s classic songwriting style fused with psychedelic, alternative and baroque rock influences.
