Flyte: The DIY Approach Of London's Premier Alternative Band

Flyte tours extensively throughout the United Kingdom, appearing frequently at prominent music festivals. The band has been known to perform at the Great Escape festival in Brighton, as well as the Reading and Leeds festivals.

Lead singer Will Taylor likes to interact with his fans while on tour, but one method of social interaction was completely foreign to the Flyte frontman. Before heading out on tour in support of Bombay Bicycle Club, Will was completely unaware of how Twitter worked. It wasn't until he was spotted eating sushi before a gig, and dozens of fans tweeted at him about his choice of lunch, that the lead singer realised just how powerful social media interaction can be.

Nick Hill and Will Taylor are unabashed lovers of pop music. They are not ashamed to admit that, when they grew old enough to purchase their own music, they both were immediately inclined to invest in Spice Girls albums.

Band

One of London's hottest alternative bands, the members of Flyte got their start performing on street corners throughout the city. It wasn't long before their makeshift live performances drew throngs of people, with videos of their cover songs and original material making the rounds online. Consisting of vocalist and guitarist Will Taylor, bassist Nick Hill, Sam Berridge on keyboard and drummer Jon Supran, the quartet's DIY approach to recording and releasing their music has given them instant credibility amongst their peers and the press alike. Their self-released debut EP Live is an exciting glimpse at what's to come from one of the United Kingdom's most promising young pop bands.

Breakthrough

The group created just 1,000 copies of their debut EP Live, which sold quickly, and created a positive word of mouth buzz amongst fans. This led to the group being asked to support Bombay Bicycle Club on tour throughout England. Soon, Flyte tickets for headliner shows were in high demand throughout the United Kingdom. The quartet has since maintained a tireless touring schedule, featuring stops at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, as well as the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Hit Albums

Flyte's recorded repertoire consists of one EP and several hit singles. The group self-released its debut EP Live with only 1,000 copies available at the time of its initial release. Included tracks Over And Out, Chasing Heaven and Words Come Easily established the group as a force in the alternative pop genre. The band has also put out two singles, We Are The Rain (with a b-side titled "Where Nobody Knows Your Name") and Light Me Up, which they released in the days leading up to their feature spot on the DIY Presents Tour.
