By this time, they were in the National Football League. Denver advanced to its first Super Bowl in 1977; however, the team lost to the Dallas Cowboys. In the '80s, quarterback John Elway led Denver to three Super Bowl appearances, all of which were losses. The Broncos wouldn't win the big game under Elway until 1997. He followed this with a second straight title in 1998. The third Super Bowl win came in 2015 during quarterback Peyton Manning's reign.
