Cheltenham Town Hall Tickets - Cheltenham Town Hall Events
Unlike many other town halls in the UK, Cheltenham Town Hall is not actually the seat of the local council offices, but a multi-purpose performance venue, bar, wedding venue and café. There are regular comedy gigs, musical recitals, dance shows and family-friendly events that are put on in the main auditorium. This space constitutes the largest room in the town hall and has sufficient capacity for 1,000 attendees. In addition to the ticketed events held at Cheltenham Town Hall, there are corporate banquets, temporary exhibitions, trade conferences and balls which are all put on throughout the course of the year. The hall has a Corinthian column design and a high coved ceiling which makes it a stunning setting for entertainment. The hall's sprung floor also makes it ideal for dancing, something which is organised on a frequent basis. The venue's Imperial Garden Bar is open seven days a week from Spring to mid-Autumn.
Cheltenham Town Hall events
With a varied programme of ticketed events, Cheltenham Town Hall has played host to a number of the UK's finest touring comedians, such as Russell Brand, Andy Hamilton and Bill Bailey, to name but three. As well as classical ensembles which range from full orchestras chamber quartets, Cheltenham Town Hall has an excellent reputation for rock and pop concerts. Tribute bands feature regularly, but there are also a number of well-known acts that tour the UK and perform at the hall, such as the soul group the Stylistics. Spoken word tours are another warmly received type of event which the venue excels at. Speakers such as the survival expert Ray Mears and TV personality Professor Alice Roberts have toured there. The hall has also hosted some sporting legends - like Geoff Boycott, for example – as he and others have offered entertaining book talks and reminiscences.
Cheltenham Town Hall history
Built just after the turn of the twentieth century, Cheltenham Town Hall was originally designed to replace the town's old Assembly Rooms which had been redeveloped. A huge amount of time and money was spent on the internal decorations of the hall, many of which survive to this day. Soon after completion, the impressive Imperial Gardens which still surround the hall were designed and planted. As well as the main stage, the smaller Pillar Room was opened for more intimate concerts, live performances and exhibitions in recent years.
