Chattanooga Lady Mocs Basketball TicketsThe Chattanooga Mocs women's basketball program represents the 11,328 students enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, known as "Chattanooga." Since they commenced play in 1974-75, the Mocs have an all-time 856-452 record for a .657 winning percentage. They have appeared in 14 NCAA Tournaments and five WNIT Tournaments. They won the first three Southern Conference regular-season and tournament championships. They were the first team to win five Southern Conference titles in a row. They won 11 consecutive Southern Conference regular-season championships between 2000 and 2010. They were the first Southern Conference team to make the NCAA Tournament. After making consecutive NCAA or WNIT appearances between 2013 and 2018, the Mocs slipped to 14-17 overall in 2018-19. Their 8-6 record in conference play put them third in the Southern Conference. With three starters and eight letterwinners returning, second-year coach Katie Burrows and the Mocs look for a return to their strong winning tradition. Who is the Chattanooga Mocs head women's basketball coach?After spending eight seasons as an assistant coach at Chattanooga, Katie Burrows was named head coach on May 25, 2018. She is the program's sixth head coach, following in the footsteps of Wes Moore and Jim Foster. She is considered a strong player development coach. As an assistant coach she is credited with mentoring one Southern Conference Athlete of the Year, one Southern Conference Player of the Year, four Defensive Players of the Year, 20 all-conference players and five Most Valuable Players in the Southern Conference Tournament. She played for the Mocs beginning in 2003 and was a member of teams that won four straight Southern Conference titles. Those teams posted a 102-23 overall record and advanced to the NCAA championship each year. During her senior season, the Mocs won 27 in a row, the nation's longest active winning streak. She is among the Mocs' top 10 all-time three-point shooters with 315 attempts and 107 shots made from behind the arc. Before joining the Mocs, she coached and taught at Ringgold High School. There, she took a program that had won just three games the year before she arrived and guided them to the state playoffs. She is a 2004 graduate of Chattanooga and holds a B.S. in Exercise Science and Health K-12.
Where do the Chattanooga Mocs play their home women's basketball games?The McKenzie Arena has been the home of the Chattanooga Mocs since 1982. It is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility designed to accommodate 12,000 fans. It was the home of the Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Tournament from 1993-97 and again in 1999-2000. In addition to Chattanooga men's and women's basketball games, McKenzie has hosted such events as the Longhorn Championship Rodeo, Disney On Ice and a diverse array of musical acts including Taylor Swift, T-Pain and Lil Wayne.
Who are the Chattanooga Mocs' main rivals?With their strong history in the Southern Conference, the Mocs can expect to face the best opponents like the Mercer Bears and the Samford Bulldogs have to offer. However, the national powerhouse and in-state rival Tennessee Volunteers fire up the Mocs and their fans like no other team. Four of the top five most-attended Mocs home games have featured the Vols. Among the Mocs’ signature wins is an upset of a fourth-ranked Tennessee squad in 2014. In 2012, they beat a then 20th-ranked Vols team 80-71.
