After the release of five successful albums, sixth LP Family Tree hit the shelves early this year, peaking at number seven in the UK charts. Black Stone Cherry: Kentucky four to tour new album
Originating in Edmonton, Kentucky, John Fred Young, the son of The Kentucky Headhunters' guitarist, started to play music with lead vocalist Chris Robertson at school in 2001. They released their first demo "Rock 'n' Roll Tape" two years later after recruiting both Ben Wells and Jon Lawhon to complete the quartet. Playing clubs in their hometown, they gained a large following and recorded their first album with Roadrunner Records, a self-titled release, in 2006. A second album, Folklore and Superstition, followed in 2008 to great critical acclaim in both America and across Europe.
Third album, Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea hit the top spot in the UK, leading to a tour with sold out dates across the world. After a short hiatus, a teaser single for a new album "Me and Mary Jane" was released, followed shortly by the record itself, Magic Mountain, in May 2014. Fifth album Kentucky (2016) landed at number five in the UK charts, before 2018's Family Tree made it three top 10 UK albums in a row (and four rock chart toppers in succession).
