Adelmo Fornaciari is better known by the stage name bestowed upon him by his teacher, which translates as 'Sugar'. He began his musical career playing guitar in the province of Reggio Emilia, before an interest in rhythm and blues led him to found local band Le Nuove, as well as later group Sugar and Candies.

1981 saw the star battle it out to win the Castrocaro Festival, and the popular music contest increased his exposure and gained him a place at the Sanremo Festival, the original inspiration for the popular Eurovision Song Contest we still enjoy today. After successes there, Fornaciari released his solo debut Un Po'Di Zucchero, before heading to California to create an album with the Randy Jackson Band - a beautiful blend of Italian pop and blues. However, it wasn't until his fourth album, Blue's, that the star would enjoy commercial success; the record sold over 1.4 million copies in Italy alone. In the late '80s and '90s he was the bestselling Italian artist, and to this day still performs alongside masters like Eric Clapton.
