Zeds Dead tour dates
Originally coming together with the intent of creating beats for hip hop artists and rappers, Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan of Zeds Dead never realised they'd be up in front of the crowd themselves. This hip hop influenced production duo from Toronto, Canada, is known for its unique blend of EDM, UK garage, dubstep, house, glitch, trap, drum and bass - and a variety of other genres. Catch this dynamic duo live on Zeds Dead tour dates at stops across Europe and North America.
Zeds Dead's background
Back in 2004, Dylan Mamid (also known as DC) and Zachary Rapp-Rovan (also known as Hooks) met through mutual friends in Toronto. Once they got to know each other, DC asked Hooks to paint a graffiti mural on a wall inside his garage, where he would often host friends and listen to music. As Hooks spent more time with DC while working on the mural, they came to discover their shared musical tastes and mutual interest in production. At the time, they were primarily interested in hip hop, but slowly expanded into other territories as they worked together on their first project, Mass Productions. In that first project, which was heavily focused on hip hop, they released only one album, Fresh Beets, before transferring their energies to their current project, Zeds Dead, in 2009.
Zeds Dead's transition to electronic music
Reimagined as Zeds Dead and with a new focus on dance and electronic music, the duo released the project's first EP, Rudeboy, in 2010. During this period, Zeds Dead also developed a weekly basement party called Bassmentality, hosted downstairs in a Toronto bar. The purpose of Bassmentality was to provide themselves and other DJs the opportunity to stray from the beaten path and play more unique sets, which they couldn't do at the regular gigs they were booking. The Bassmentality parties gave many now-famous acts one of their first platforms for performance, including Skrillex, Nero, Borgore and Doctor P.
2010 and 2011 saw the duo's first formal tours across North America and Europe. The momentum of these tours launched them into a period of extreme productivity, and they released no fewer than three EPs in 2012 alone, leading with Adrenaline, following with Victor and closing out the year with The Living Dead.
After the release of yet another EP, Hot Sauce, in 2013, their EP Somewhere Else hit shelves in 2014 and promptly rose to the No. 136 position on the Billboard 200. It was also No. 4 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
The DJ duo's first studio album, Northern Lights, arrived in 2016 and rose to No. 6 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
