A Swedish singer and songwriter, Zara Larsson was a child singing sensation before she embarked on a solo musical career as an adult. Born in 1997, she was just 10 years of age when she first appeared on television, singing on the talent show Talang, which she won in 2008. Following that early success, Larsson has gone on to be nominated for a Brit Award as well as winning several prizes, such as the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act in 2016. In 2013, the singer signed a deal with Epic Records in the United States and she performed at the closing ceremony of the football championships held in France in 2016. As such, Larsson had achieved a diverse singing career even before she left her teenage years behind her.
Zara Larsson's early singing career
Larsson's first single was a cover version of the hit track “My Heart Will Go On”. The performer had won the final of Talang with a rendition of that song. However, it was not until 2012, when she had signed to the Swedish label TEN Music Group, that her first EP was to make it to the shops. Although a preview of one of the tracks had been available on YouTube, the Introducing EP was not officially released until January of 2013. The five-track work got to the number one spot in the Swedish charts. Her songs from the EP also performed well in Denmark and Norway. Still a youngster, Larsson had proved she was no child one-hit wonder and that she was a serious recording artist who could sell overseas.
Zara Larsson's international breakthrough
In 2013, Larsson put out another EP. This was called Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself and it had a more mature appeal. As a result of the EP's double single, “She's Not Me (Parts I and II)”, the singer attracted the attention of Epic and agreed to move to them for US releases. However, the performer still needed to conclude business with TEN, which she did upon the release of her debut full-length album, simply called 1. It spawned four hit singles, the most successful of which was “Carry You Home”, which got to number three in Sweden. The album went platinum and Larsson was booked to open shows for Cher Lloyd during her I Wish tour.
Uncover, a six-track EP, followed in 2015. Recorded for Epic, So Good was put out in 2017. It was a worldwide hit, cementing the singer's position as a popular performer globally. It got to number seven in the UK and was a hit all over Europe, plus Australia and the US. Larsson has collaborated with the likes of Tinie Tempah and David Guetta during her career.
