Watch the world's best darts players compete
Beginning in 2013, the Professional Darts Corporation has sponsored a competition aimed at increasing the worldwide profile of the sport, the World Series of Darts. That year, the eight top ranked players participated in two events: the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters, which was won by Michael van Gerwen of The Netherlands and the Sydney Darts Masters, which saw England's Phil Taylor claim the title. The following year, four Masters level events were contested with van Gerwin topping the Dubai and Singapore Masters, while Taylor prevailed at the Perth and Sydney Masters competitions. In 2015, history was made as Phil Taylor captured four (Japan, Perth, Sydney, Auckland) of the five titles, a feat that has not been repeated since. The competition expanded the schedule to six contests, including a Finals event in 2016, held in Glasgow, Scotland, where van Gerwen emerged victorious from the field of 24 entrants. Other major professional darts championships you may enjoy include World Matchplay Darts, Betfair World Matchplay and Unibet Premier League Darts. Fabulous Finales await at World Series of Darts
Europe and North America were added to the World Series of Darts tour in 2017 with the U.S. Darts Masters and the German Darts Masters competitions, while Melbourne replaced Sydney. Although Scotland's Gary Anderson captured three of the titles up for grabs, once again it was the Dutch master Michael van Gerwen who repeated as Finals champion at season's end. The following year, van Gerwen was defeated 10-8 in a stirring quarterfinal by compatriot Raymond van Barneveld, who then lost out to England's James Wade to set up an all-England final versus Michael Smith. In one of the tournament's best matchups that would go down as an instant classic, Wade won a squeaker over Smith 11-10 to claim the Finals crown. Of the past World Series of Darts finals that have been held, two of them were won by two games or less in testimony to the skills on display, so if you are a fan of the sport or simply enjoy the thrill of individual competition then you should check it out.
