World Golf Championships TicketsThe World Golf Championships is an annual series of four events in which the top golfers from around the world come together and compete. Three of the four events — the Dell Technologies Match Play, the Mexico Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Invitational — began play in 1999, though under different names. A fourth event — the HSBC Champions — was added to the slate in 2009. The World Golf Championships are known for their sheer eclectic variety. Each event differs in terms of location, time of the year and format. The idea behind the event was to bring together golfers from different tours. All four tournaments are official money events on the PGA Tour, the Japan Golf Tour and the European Tour. They are also sanctioned by the Asian Tour, the Sunshine Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia. Tiger Woods is the all-time leading winner of the World Golf Championships with 18 total trophies. What is the format of the World Golf Championships? Each event in the Championships has a different format. The HSBC Champions, which features the 78 best players as dictated by the International Federation of PGA Tours, is a standard 72-hole stroke play event. The Mexico Championship, which involves the top 50 players from the Official World Golf Ranking, is a 72-hole stroke play event with no cut. The Dell Technologies Match Play, which features the top 64 available players from the Official World Golf Ranking, is a match play event in which players earn points for beating an opponent at a hole. Finally, the FedEx St. Jude Invitational, which involves a smattering of top 50 players, tournament winners and members of the Presidents Cup teams, is a 72-hole stroke play event with no cut.
Is there an overall winner of the World Golf Championships? No, there is no overall World Golf Championships winner. Each of the four events does feature a separate trophy for the tournament winner, but besides the international theme, they are otherwise unconnected to each other.

What is the World Golf Championships like?Because the World Golf Championships varies so much, there is no single experience. Each course has its own unique atmosphere, play style and list of activities, giving fans plenty to enjoy and explore. Attendees are, of course, expected to obey standard golf etiquette when players are trying to play their shot.
