What is the format of the World Golf Championship Match Play?Once the world's top 64 players are assembled for the World Golf Championship Match Play, they are broken into 16 four-man groups. The golfers will compete over the next three days in a round-robin format. Each participant plays a full 18 holes. The matches are awarded on a point system with one point awarded to the victor of each match and a half a point awarded if the match ends in a tie. The winners will go on to advance to the next round. If there is a tie, there will be a sudden-death tie-breaker match. The third round of the tournament features the quarterfinalists who play on Saturday. The semi-finalists and finalists play on Sunday, and the winner of the World Golf Championship Match Play winner is named.

The purpose of the tournament was to bring together some of the top international golfers. After a great deal of planning, a 64-man, 7-round tournament was born. Jason Day, Bubba Watson, David Toms, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods are just a few of the greats who have won the tournament. Tiger Woods is a three-time champion. The tournament has changed names and formats over the years. Previous names were WGC Anderson Consulting Match Play Championship, WGC Accenture Match Play Championship and WGC Cadillac Match Play.
What are the features of the Austin Country Club golf course?Designed by Pete Dye in 1984, the Austin Country Club golf course is a 72-par, 180-acre, 18-hole course that features 6,484 yards of golf.
