Winnipeg Blue Bombers TicketsThe Winnipeg Blue Bombers currently compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League. The team can trace its roots back to 1930 when the Winnipeg Football Club was created. The Blue Bombers is one of the league's most successful franchises and celebrated its 11th Grey Cup victory in 2019's 107th Grey Cup game. The victory was the team's first league championship since 1990. The all-around team effort required to earn the Grey Cup victory for the Blue Bombers included more than 130 yards on the ground by running back Andrew Harris and a defense that forced seven turnovers while stifling one of the best offenses in the league. The play of the offensive line was also stellar in the game. And now, this same nucleus of players has only months to wait before the 2020 season begins and it is time to defend their Grey Cup title. What players will I see at a Winnipeg Blue Bombers football game?Running back Andrew Harris is fresh off of a championship season in which he was able to accomplish a feat no other CFL player in history had accomplished. Harris walked away from the 2019 Grey Cup championship as the game's Most Valuable Player and the Most Valuable Canadian. It was a great way for Harris to end a season that was filled with controversy for him. Adam Bighill leads the charge on the other side of the football. The Blue Bombers made Bighill the highest-paid defensive player in the Canadian Football League a year ago, and his on-field performance continues to support the team's decision. In 2018, Bighill tallied over 100 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown as the leader of a defense that gave up the second-fewest points in the league.
Who is the coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers?Mike O'Shea was chosen as the 30th head coach in the history of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on December 4, 2013. His discipline and team-first coaching philosophy was the main reason the Blue Bombers currently reign as champions of the Canadian Football League. O'Shea is preparing to begin his seventh year in Winnipeg and recently signed a contract extension that will keep him with the Blue Bombers at least through the 2022 season.
What are some of the best moments in Winnipeg Blue Bombers history? The history of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers is abundantly rich with great on-field moments. Blue Bomber fans are not likely to forget Michael Gray's "Immaculate Interception" at the goal line during the 1988 Grey Cup championship game. Winnipeg was leading the game by three points over the B.C. Lions with less than two minutes remaining in the contest. However, the Lions had the ball on the Blue Bomber seven-yard line. This is when Gray, a defensive end for the Blue Bombers, intercepted Lions quarterback Matt Dunigan in the endzone to seal the victory. Matt Dunigan was party to another great moment in the history of Winnipeg Blue Bomber football. But on this occasion, Dunigan was a member of the team. In a July 1994 game against the Edmonton Eskimos, Dunigan made history by throwing for 713 yards. He also completed five passes for touchdowns in the game.
