Born Kevin Michael McKeehan, TobyMac's musical career began when he and Michael Tait formed DC Talk while at Liberty University in 1987. Soon joined by Kevin Max Smith, DC Talk went on to be one of the most popular bands in Christian music with the release of their multi-platinum album Jesus Freak in 1995. Jesus Freak was their fourth studio album, preceded by Free At Last which was certified Platinum, Nu Thang which was certified Gold. Their self-titled debut album, DC Talk. DC Talk disbanded in 2001, with its members, including TobyMac, going on to pursue solo careers. TobyMac released his first solo album, Momentum, in 2001 which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. TobyMac has worked on several songs with former DC Talk members since they disbanded, including "Love Feels Like" on his 2015 album This is Not a Test.
