Tinashe Biography - From Girl Group to Solo Stardom

Born in Kentucky, Kachingwe left school early to pursue music full time and joined girl group The Stunners in 2007. They released singles 'Bubblegum', 'We Got It' and 'Dancin' Around the Truth' before being asked to open for Justin Bieber on his world tour. After the group disbanded in 2011, the singer went on to record solo material, releasing 'Can't Say No' a few months later. She received positive feedback from critics and followed the track with a full mixtape, In Case We Die, in 2012. Second mixtape Reverie received more attention later in the year, followed by Black Water and its single 'Vulnerable' featuring rapper Travis Scott, which was named a must-hear pop song of the week by MTV.

A mix of urban, hip hop and pop music, Kachingwe's debut album Aquarius dropped in October 2014 and secured a number 17 spot on the Billboard 200, with many tracks being compared to the early work of stars like Janet Jackson and Ciara.
