Billie Eilish: 7 shows across UK in 2020
Billie Eilish 'Where Do We Go?' tour comes to the UK in July 2020, starting with two shows in Manchester, then one show in Birmingham, before the final four shows at London's O2 Arena.
It's been quite a few years for Billie Eilish. After posting the song "Ocean Eyes" on music-sharing platform SoundCloud in 2015 so that her dance teacher could listen to it, she woke up to a flurry of emails; many of them about a career in music. DJ and notoriously prophetic taste-maker Zane Lowe was then heard to describe Billie Eilish as an "amazing new talent" and, before long, Eilish (then 14 years old) had racked up a total of more than two million streams on Spotify. Interviews with the BBC and Vogue followed, with both tagging her as pop's next big thing. Taking advantage of the hype, Eilish released her debut EP Don't Smile at Me in August 2017 and, following the EP's commercial and critical success, was named as Apple Music's UPNEXT artist (a visibility platform for up-and-coming musicians) in October 2017.
Still only in her teens, make sure you take the chance to see one of pops most talented young artists live in the UK – buy Billie Eilish tickets now at StubHub.
Billie Eilish: SoundCloud sensation goes viral
Beginning her musical education at the Los Angeles Children's Choir when she was eight years old, Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell had been long exposed to music before that. Raised in Los Angeles to a family of actors and musicians, she was home-schooled along with brother (and now songwriting partner/producer) Finneas O'Connell and began writing songs at age 11.
In 2015, the siblings released three songs on SoundCloud: "She's Broken", "Fingers Crossed" and "Ocean Eyes". Billie recorded the latter for her dance teacher, who she hoped would choreograph a dance to it. Unbeknownst to the siblings, "Ocean Eyes" was to become an almost overnight viral sensation and mark the beginning of Billie Eilish's career. A music video was released in March 2016 and a video of Eilish performing a dance to the song was released on six months later, before follow up single "Six Feet Under" was put out to the public.
Throughout 2017, Eilish released a series of singles in advance of her much-anticipated debut album. "Bellyache" was released in February 2017 along with a music video the following month, before tracks "Bored" (part of the soundtrack to Netflix television series 13 Reasons Why), "Watch" and "Copycat" in the following months. Don't Smile at Me, Eilish's debut EP, was released in August 2017 along with singles "Idontwannabeyouanymore" and "My Boy".
