Thirty years since their single 'I Useta Lover' hit the number one spot in the Irish charts, holding the position for nine weeks and becoming the country's all-time biggest selling single, these Galway rockers are back on the road in October 2016 to play an acoustic set at venues across the country. With a string of hit singles to their name such as 'Downtown', 'She Loves Me' and 'Small Bit of Love', the group make their return to the stage after a three-year hiatus. The Saw Doctors Biography - From Local Success to UK and US Rock Fame
Despite an ever changing line-up, founding members Leo Moran and Davy Carton remain the face of one of Ireland's most successful rock groups, thirty years after they came together in Tuam, County Galway. They first came to the attention of music fans after touring with the likes of Hothouse Flowers and The Stunning, whilst also playing at popular venue the Quays Bar. It would however be a support slot with The Waterboys in 1988 that helped them on their way to becoming the most successful Irish rock band since U2. Second single 'I Useta Lover' proved a major breakthrough, hitting the number one spot and finding its way to being the biggest-selling single in Irish history. This was quickly followed by debut album This is Rock and Roll, I Want My Old Job Back which again hit the top spot in 1991.
The band's first success in the UK didn't come until the mid-'90s when they released two EPS, Small Bit of Love and World of Good, and a US breakthrough followed when track 'Never Mind the Strangers' featured in a Guinness advertisement. Live albums, extensive touring and festival appearances followed, with a notable highlight their set at the 40th anniversary of Glastonbury - shortly before their announcement of a break from touring in 2013.
