Influenced by a huge array of musical styles, The Kooks have always been a band unafraid to try new things. The group burst onto the scene in 2005 with their bestselling debut Inside In/Inside Out before hitting the top of the UK album charts with Konk (2008). Renowned for their anthems "Naive" and "She Moves in Her Own Way", the group are famous for performing incredibly catchy pop songs with singalong lyrics.

The Kooks: new music in 2018

Barely even teenagers before they were plucked from their lives to become superstars, frontman Luke Pritchard and his band have managed to achieve a huge amount in a short amount of time. After forming at the BRIT school in Croydon, the band barely had time to release a demo before they were snapped up by Virgin Records, who spotted them performing at the Brighton Free Butt Festival in 2005. Having been together for just three months, the group impressed enough to earn a record deal. Influenced by a myriad of musical icons, the four-piece carved out a sound that kick-started the Britpop revival, and the influence of Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and even The Strokes all helped them to dominate the airways after the release of debut album Inside In/Inside Out in 2006.

Their sophomore LP Konk, entered the charts at number one, sealing the band's claim to fame, and Pritchard's band are now well versed in performing at huge festivals and intimate venues alike after four records (and a fifth Let's Go Sunshine released in 2018). Latest record Listen sees the group take on powerful subject matter and experiment with a variety of musical styles, and should open them up to a new group of fans.
