Roots rock meets reggae in The Hooters
The Hooters have always been great fun to listen to. They're a down-the-line roots rock band with a rich sense of fun and exploration, which has seen them blend elements of other genres, particularly those based on reggae, into their music. They play light-hearted, intelligent music that's exactly what you're looking for in a family night out. Each a superb musician in their own right, together they emanate an effortless rock sound that's easy on the ear, and gets the feet tapping in good rock and roll fashion too. Check them out when you buy or sell The Hooters tickets on StubHub.
Playing archetypal feel-good rock music
The Hooters are one of the most diverse rock groups to come out of the USA in the latter part of the twentieth century. They eagerly mix traditional adult-oriented rock with folk, reggae and ska to form a sort of hybrid somewhere between Mike and the Mechanics and the more mainstream side of UB40, with perhaps a touch of Madness on the ska side. Add a hint of Celtic musical flavour and a little bit of new wave quirkiness and you'll have their hallmark recipe. You'll find yourself singing along to choruses you hadn't heard until a moment ago, so well do they invoke the archetypal sense of melody in all of us. They first came to prominence in the mid-eighties when they were picked up by the then revolutionary MTV music channel, which turned their song "All You Zombies" into a perennial reggae-rock favourite that will most likely be on compilation albums well into the next century, right alongside songs like "Radar Love". If this sounds like an over-sell, get The Hooters tickets and you'll discover exactly what the fuss is all about. And if you've been nodding along in agreement, you won't need any persuading in the first place.
Making an indelible mark on the eighties music scene
The Hooters became far more successful in Europe than in their native USA thanks to their performance at one of the most iconic live music events of the twentieth century, The Wall Concert in Berlin, when the leading artists of the day played Pink Floyd's "The Wall" live in concert to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since then, they've enjoyed only moderate chart success, but have toured relentlessly and retained a very faithful and large fan following, particularly on the continent. Their main founding members, Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian, who formed the band way back in 1980, also achieved very significant success with their songwriting, penning the massive Cyndi Lauper hit, "Time After Time" in the mid 1980s. It's this keen compositional ability that has really set the band apart, after all the talk of quirkiness and novelty is over. Their songs are perfectly constructed pieces of roots rock that draw on any other flavours required to make them work. This is one of the most under-rated rock band of the last few decades, so treat yourself to a masterful concert with The Hooters tickets on StubHub.
